Shonk Recording Studios was established in 1999 by John Halliday, a very experienced session musician and for many years the Drummer with Oxford band The Candyskins.    Over the first 5 years what started out as a home recording studio became one of Oxford's premier recording studios for new bands, and many of Oxford's established musicians.    In 2007 Max Hodges joined forces with John,  and provided  injection of equipment and expertise, updating and improving the studio's hardware systems, as well as sorting out the acoustics in the control room and live room,  and providing more direct access to many services and manufacturers as a side benefit.
