Referencing its roots, the Steelworks studios are a melting pot of gritty doggedness and creative brilliance, having been home to some of the world’s greatest talents for some time. A diverse range of artists, song writers and musicians have walked the inspiring corridors of this Great British institution; from Aretha Franklin to Take That, Bryan Adams to the Spice Girls, S Club 7 to Jarvis Cocker – all have thrived in the home of serial hit maker Eliot Kennedy and recorded many chart topping records from the humble Sheffield studios.Together with Tim Lever and Mike Percy, Eliot Kennedy took over the influential FON studios in the mid 90s – revamping it and renaming it Steelworks. The boy band 911 were the first to grace the legendary studio floors in its brand new era. With them, the producers brought along new equipment and a fresh new productiveness that often meant three people would work on one track at the same time in three separate studios.In a giant leap forward, the Steelworks expanded yet again by adding the Foundry studio to the family of Steelworks studios early 2012. The success of Steelworks transcends its age and size, nevertheless the studios continue to churn out hit after hit – all the while remembering its humble beginnings and welcoming many bands and artists with fresh eagerness to produce world beating records.
