Albany Motors is a family business that was formed some 40 years ago by John Shorney. Formerly known as Chandos Motors and based in Chandos Street in Leamington Spa, the business moved to John's home town of Earlsdon, Coventry in 1976.
Trading was set up alongside petrol sales in the new premises. However, by 1991, loss-leading fuel sales by supermarkets led to removal of the petrol pumps, making way for a welcome increase in space for vehicle stock. In 2003 the decision was made to change the business name to be more in line with its present location on Albany Road, Earlsdon, Coventry - and so Albany Motors was born. In 2005 John retired, handing over the business to his son, David, and daughter, Catherina. David is supported by Jack of all trades Bruce, who is based in the showroom. Bruce has been at the garage since he was 16, some 35 years ago, and can turn his hand to anything from selling, to cleaning, to fixing that faulty window. Also supporting David, and the most recent addition to the team, is David's son Richard. Working only on a part-time basis, Richard takes credit for updating the website and photographing the cars, as well as doing plenty of market research, so that only the most select cars are bought. In the Workshop is Longie, the mechanic, who returned to work for the garage in 2006, having taken a break after his first 10 year stint. Longie is responsible for servicing, maintenance and any warranty work the cars may need. The team would not be complete without Boris, the resident French Bulldog, whose responsibilities include meeting, greeting and warding off any trespassing dog. Albany Motors pride themselves on providing affordable, low mileage, quality cars that are chosen for genuine condition, service history and great value. It is this careful selection process and their approachable, helpful manner that have earned Albany Motors regular repeat custom and a reputation to be proud of !
