TERMS & CONDITIONSHire Period- The displayed price includes Insurance, VAT any One-Way or Our of Hours surcharges and full breakdown cover for the specified duration of hire.
- 1 extra day will be charged for vehicles returned over the grace period of 1 hour 59 mins.
- Minimum hire periods may apply to Weekends, Bank & Public holidays.
- The “Book & Pay Now Price” is for the full duration of your selected hire period.
Payment:When you book online you accept the terms & conditions as set out below.Payment for the hire period is required to be made by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). Please be aware that we are unable to accept Visa Electron, Solo cards, Prepaid Cards or any non-embossed (raised numbers) cards for payment. Payment by American Express will attract a surcharge of 5% of the total booking value. The credit card offered for payment at hire commencement must be in the main drivers name. Any third party paying for the rental at hire commencement (or additional rental charges in the event of a pre-payment) will not be accepted.
- AMT Vehicle Rental Ltd do not accept payment by cash or cheque.
- Deposits of between £150 & £5,000 will be taken at the time of rental commencement.
- Deposit are refundable once the vehicle is returned with no additional damaged.
- The cost of rental and deposits are payable in full at rental commencement.
- AMT Vehicle Rental Ltd will require a bankable deposit on all vehicles to the value of the insurance excess.
- You can cancel your reservation free of charge up to 24 hours prior to commencement. All reservation cancelled after this time will be subject to 1 days hire charge being applied.
In the event that you return the vehicle earlier than the date originally specified and agreed on the rental agreement, no refund will be made against un-used days.
Pre-Pay On Line:Vouchers cannot be transferred. The hirer named on the voucher must be the person who pays for and drives the vehicle. Any third party paying for the rental at hire commencement (or additional rental charges in the event of a pre-payment) will not be accepted.
- Please bring your pre-paid voucher with you when collecting your vehicle.
The named hirer must produce the debit card and/or valid credit card (showing the hirer’s name) when collecting the vehicle. The credit/debit card will be required for the full value of the deposit and the cost of the hire.
Confirmed reservations and paid for onlineReservations cancelled more than 48 hours-notice from hire commencement will be refunded in full. All reservations cancelled within 48 hours from hire commencement and times are not refundable. Unless you have cancelled your reservation in accordance with the above terms or you do not collect your vehicle at the specified time on your rental voucher, no refund will be made. AMT will confirm cancellation in writing.AMT fully understand that there may be occasions where you may unavoidably delayed collecting your vehicle we will therefore, hold your rental vehicle available for 4 working hours after the specified collection time (unless the 4 hours falls outside of the renting location’s opening hours)
Non Pre-paid reservations.No charge will be made for not collecting your rental vehicle if you have not prepaid for your rental but, please be aware that the vehicle will be made available for hire 1 hour from the specified collection time.
Identification requirements:All hirers must produce the following identification and proof of home address prior to vehicle check out:
- Full UK driving licence (Both the Card & Paper part is required with their current address)
- Should your current address not be displayed on your licence your current passport will be required.
- Credit/Debit card in the main Drivers Name.
- 2 x utility bills dated within the last 60 days showing current home address. (Mobile phone bills will not be acceptable and all bills need to match the Driving License address.)
- Additional identification for Prestige vehicles may be required.
- Hirers from outside of the UK must provide a full driving licence, international driving permit (if not an EU Licence) and valid passport.
Loss or Damage to Vehicles:A vehicle condition sheet will be provided and agreed with yourselves prior to handover, please allow a few minutes for this when collecting from our locations or at delivery or collection to a specified address.
Insurance- Hirers must be between the age of 23 and 75 years old and held a full UK driving for 24 months.
- Certain vehicles require the drivers age to be 30 years+
- A surcharge will apply for drivers of less than 25 years of age.
- Endorsed licences may be accepted at the discretion of AMT and following consultation with their insurers. Please check at the time of booking.
- Prestige vehicles require the driver to be a minimum of 25 years of age with additional restrictions applying to certain models. Please check at the time of booking.
- The rental quote does not include the excess amount.
- Excess amounts vary between £500 & £5,000 dependent on vehicle type, please refer to our website www.amtvehiclerental.com or call our reservations teams for more information.
WaiverThe insurance excess may be reduced but, not zero’ d, by purchasing an additional policy. Please check at the time of booking.
Reporting Accidents:In the unfortunate case of an accident or damage to the vehicle bodywork, we request that the incident is reported, at the latest, the following working day. Failure to do so may result in the insurance becoming invalid. We may require you to complete an accident report form.
FuelAMT Vehicle Rental Ltd operates a like-for-like fuel level policy. This means that, whatever is provided with the vehicle at rental commencement then the same amount of fuel should be present at rental termination.
- Fuel is not included in the quoted price.
- The renter is responsible for ensuring the correct fuel is used.
- If the wrong fuel is used the renter is liable for the full cost of recovery and repair.
- If a vehicle is returned with less fuel than at commencement of hire we will refuel the vehicle on the hirer’s behalf at a cost of 20% above the published Fleet News fuel cost.
Delivery & Collection:AMT are able to offer a door-to-door delivery & collection service to both business and residential addresses. For rentals under a 7 day duration a delivery charge of £1 per mile will be made. For rentals of over 7 days the standard delivery charge for addresses within a 5 mile radius is £10. Deliveries outside of the 5 mile radius will be charged at £1 per mile thereafter. All vehicles must be signed for, on arrival, by the hirer who is named as the main driver on the Rental Agreement.
London Congestion Charge (or any other National or Local Government Legislation that may apply)It will remain the responsibility of the hirer to pay for any London Congestion Charges (LCC) from commencement of hire until such point as the vehicle is collected. The hirer will remain responsible for LCC if the vehicle is delivered and/or collected in the congestion zone or if we need to travel through the zone to the delivery/collection location.
MileageOur vehicles include unlimited mileage within the UK but, are subject to a fair usage policy:
- We allow 100 miles per day on a daily rate, 700 miles per week or 2,800 per 28 days.
- Extra mileage allowances can be arranged at the time of hire.
- Exceptions will apply on the following groups: F7 to F9, P7 to P12 & SP9 to SP13.
- Excess mileage charges vary for individual vehicles, please ask our reservation agents for more information or at time of booking.
- AMT reserves the right to decide and charge for excessive mileage incurred within a rental period.
Driving Licences:A valid driving licence (held for at least two years) must be produced at commencement of hire. Photocopies will not be accepted.
- Due to Insurance restrictions AMT Vehicle Rental Ltd can accept up to 6 points for minor offences (CU10 – CU80, CD10-CD30, LC10-LC20, MS10 – MS30, MW10, PC10-PC30, PL10 – PL50, SP10 – SP50, TS10 – TS70)
- AMT reserve the right to refuse a hire at our discretion. Please confirm at the time of booking.
Additional Drivers:Additional drivers may be appointed to hires for all our vehicles as long as all insurance restrictions are fully met.
- Additional drivers must present at rental commencement or attend any of our locations should an additional driver be required.
- Driving licences for any additional driver(s) must be shown (both parts of new UK Licence are required and photocopies cannot be accepted) plus a passport if licence does not show current home address.
- Dependent on the type of vehicle a surcharge of £10 per day, £50 per week (capped at £100) will apply. Please ask at time of booking.
Parking & Traffic finesAny fines and court costs for parking, traffic or other related offences remain the responsibility of the hirer.
- It is advised that any fines such as, parking violations are paid on time to the relevant authority to avoid AMT’s intervention and therefore any additional administration costs.
- If fines are not paid, an administration charge of £40 + VAT per offence will apply.
Vehicle returnsAMT Vehicle Rental Ltd do not offer an “out of hours” return facility at any of the locations.
- The hirer is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is returned to the agreed location during office hours.
- Where AMT have agreed to collect the vehicle from a home or work address it will remain the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that it is parked safely and fully secured. The hirer will be responsible for the vehicle and its condition until it is inspected by a member of AMT staff.
Foreign TravelVehicles may not be taken outside of the UK mainland without prior written authorisation. Once authorised, vehicles taken abroad will be subject to a rate surcharge and additional insurance cover. Please note that a VE103 will be required for all vehicles leaving the UK, this will be issued by AMT. Please allow two (2) working days for this document to be supplied if requested during the course of your hire. Vehicles will risk impoundment should a VE103 not be able to be produced at borders. The full cost of impoundment and repatriation remains the responsibility of the hirer.
No Smoking PolicyAs with the majority of vehicle rental companies AMT operate a no smoking policy in all rental vehicles and reserve the right to charge a fixed valeting fee if you have smoked or allowed smoking within the vehicle.

Collecting your rental vehicleWhen collecting your rental vehicle please ensure you have:
- Your current full driving license ( See “Driving Licence” above)
- Your Identification (See “Identification” above)
- Your method of payment ( See “Payment” above)
General notes and contact details:Please note that these terms and conditions are general in their nature only. All rentals are taken out in strict accordance with the terms above and also with the Rental Agreement that you sign at rental commencement. The terms supplied with the Rental Agreement take precedence over anything written here. AMT are unable to guarantee specific makes & models of vehicles; however,
- If we are unable to supply the vehicle requested then we will provide a similar vehicle.
- If for any reason we are unable to provide a similar vehicle we reserve the right to upgrade you free of charge.
