History
1970’s
McHugh plant hire was established by James McHugh in 1973. The business primarily hired out JCB 3C’s to local builders. By 1978 James McHugh had a fleet of 23 JCB’s working Throughout West Yorkshire.
1980’s
James McHugh saw a growing requirement for bulk excavation Contractors, and the decision was made to invest in tracked Excavators and tipper lorries and begin carrying out excavation Contracts.Throughout the eighties James McHugh’s fleet of 25 excavators And 20 tipper lorries carried out many excavation projects.
1990’s
With the growing requirement for companies to reduce and recycle Wastes instead of sending to landfill, James McHugh made the Decision to purchase a 3 acre waste transfer station at Whitehall Industrial Estate, Leeds. Throughout the nineties James Mchugh Established himself as a leading supplier of recycled aggregates. The need arised for a steady flow of brick and concrete rubble Into the transfer station so James McHugh began undertaking Demolition projects.
2000 onwards
2002 saw James son Anthony McHugh join the family business after graduating from Northumbria University with a Bsc (hons) In Quantity surveying.
Anthony McHugh decided to focus on Demolition and recycling Operations and develop the business in these fields.
2005, a further step in recycling was made when the Leeds Waste transfer station gained planning permission for recycling Household waste in addition to inert crushing and screening.
Anthony Mchugh Demolition Ltd continues to establish itself throughout Yorkshire as the first choice contractor for Demolition and site clearance projects ranging from £1,000 to £500,000 in value.
