Judy qualified in 1981 from The Queens College, Glasgow. She gained her musculoskeletal experience working in the NHS in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Carlisle before moving to a small private hospital where she was the Physiotherapy Manager of a team of musculoskeletal physiotherapists. She is a member of the organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine. She has completed MACP Spinal Mobilisation Course part 1 and Cyriax Foundation Orthopaedic Course and in 2009 the 80 hour Foundation Acupuncture course allowing her to become a member of the Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapists and recently attended the course Musculoskeletal Injuries in Young Athletes.Musculoskeletal injuries are her area of expertise with a particular interest in sports injuries.She has worked with various sports teams since qualifying – Rugby, hockey and swimming. She worked as a Physiotherapist with Scottish Swimming teams and squads from 1983 until 1991 and was the Physiotherapist with the Scottish Team at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh 1986. From 1989 – 1991 she was involved with the British swimming teams attending major European Competitions.Her personal interests are still competitive swimming – she was a Scottish internationalist – and currently holds a European and British records for her age Group. She is also a Level 1 swimming teacher and is involved with coaching at Carlisle Aquatics.

Jill Maitland
Jill qualified in 1986 from Manchester Royal School of Physiotherapy and gained her musculoskeletal experience in the NHS before moving to become Special Needs Moving and Handling Advisor. She gained her Masters Degree in Ergonomics at Aberdeen University and has been working in that field since then alongside her musculoskeletal physiotherapy in the private sector. Jill has been involved in working with 2 rugby clubs treating injuries.Jill specialises in ergonomics mainly display screen equipment and manual handling involving in house training and individual training and advice. The aim is to prevent musculoskeletal problems and to enable workers with problems to return to work or to stay at work comfortably.She recently attended the course Musculoskeletal Injuries in Young Athletes.Jill keeps fit by running and cycling.

Kathryn Oddy
Kathryn qualified in 1987 from the Middlesex Hospital School of Physiotherapy, London.Kathryn has training in the Maitland and McKenzie approaches to managing spinal pain, hydrotherapy, orthopaedic medicine, pilates and acupuncture.Over 10 years Kathryn had been involved with the English Women’s Golf Association, now England Golf, in the provision of physical programmes to potentially elite young golfers. Kathryn uses this experience in prescribing fitness programmes to enhance balance, core and scapular control, coordination, flexibility and power, where indicated with any client.

Jean Reeves
Jean previously worked at Caldew Hospital before joining Carlisle Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic. She qualified in 1972 from Liverpool School of Physiotherapy and has gained general experience in the NHS in Orthopaedics and musculoskeletal conditions. She has also worked in Paediatrics and Special schools.Jean has a special interest in orthopaedics, particularly lower limb joint replacement rehabilitation, knee problems and hand rehabilitation.

Ashley Winter
Ashley qualified in 2007 attaining a 2:1 Bsc (Hon) in physiotherapy from York St John University having worked previously as a Physiotherapy Technical Instructor. He is currently working at North Cumbria University Hospital as a senior physiotherapist where he is the H&S representative. His main interest is musculoskeletal sporting injuries.He currently works part-time for Carlisle United Football Club as one of their school of excellence physiotherapist and has also gained experience with rugby physiotherapy in the region. He has KT1 and 2 certificates in kinesiology taping methods which he studied at Sheffield and this is one of his specialist areas.He is has a keen interest in cycling and football activities.

Eleanor Ord
Eleanor is our part time secretary/receptionist. Eleanor has worked as a Physiotherapy assistant in the NHS and also with Cardiac rehabilitation.
