Carvers were established in 1896 as a builders’ merchant in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. More than 115 years later, Carvers are still going strong supplying building supplies to customers throughout the Midlands.Carvers operate from two 10 acre sites, the Littles Lane site has their full stock range and is conveniently situated next to Wolverhampton’s ring road. The Neachells Lane site is a specialist timber production unit and not open to the public.Owning & operating all their delivery lorries, Carvers have a wide range to suit most access restrictions and product requirements, including bulk site deliveries.Carvers employ over 200 staff, the vast majority of whom live within 10 miles of their depot in Wolverhampton.Carvers are involved in many community events, the highest profile being their sponsorship of the Wolverhampton Marathon which raises over £20,000 per annum.Operating standards are extremely important to Carvers, they are ISO 9001 Quality Management approved and are committed to achieving BS OHSAS18001 for Health & Safety Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management. In addition they have very strong policies regarding equal opportunities for all employees, business ethics, training standards etc..Still owned by the same family they continue to trade as builders’ merchants but have also expanded into timber merchanting and bottled gas distribution. In addition Carvers have established a tool hire centre, where builders can get everything they need for their job.The builders’ merchant business now includes specialist bathroom and kitchen departments which not only sell kitchens and bathrooms, but will also plan and fit them.
