Cream of Cheltenham and Gloucester are celebrating in style with their win at the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards 2010.

In a joint effort, salon owner Scott Smurthwaite and artistic director Will Eagles worked together to bag the coveted Wales and South West Hairdresser of the Year title. Competing against six other finalists, Scott and Will piped them all at the post with their stunning hair image creations.

Launched in 1984 by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored for the past 26 years by Schwarzkopf Professional, the awards celebrate and reward the best of British hairdressing creativity, and have fast become the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing world.

To enter the competition, Scott and Will had to initially submit four images, to fulfil the competitions criteria, which is set down by Hairdressers Journal International. Once shortlisted, Scott and Will then had to submit another four images which were then judged along with the first four by industry experts, members of the British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame and hair journalists from the most influential, and fashion forward consumer magazines. The final took place on 22nd November at the decadent Grosvenor House JW Marriot Hotel, London and was hosted by Jonathan Ross.

Previously winning the title in 2008, Scott comments on winning the award with Will this time round. “When Jonathan read out our names, we were speechless. We were delighted to get as far as we did against a talented shortlist but to win the title again is simply a dream come true.”Salon owner and director Scott went on to say “I am delighted for Will to be part of the win this time round. He has always contributed hugely to the cream brand and this year has been an incredible year for Will and all the team at cream. British hairdressing is seen to be the best in the world and the British Hairdressing Awards acknowledge skill and excellence. To be recognised by your peers as being one of the country's leading hairdressers, and being involved in the British Hairdressing Awards is a wonderful feeling and a fantastic achievement for both myself and Will."
