Curly Music has been established in Liverpool since 1977, originally occupying small premises on Smithdown Road and then opening at 58, Stanley Street in the City Centre It became part of the famous Musician's quarter which until their sad demise, saw three top quality Musical Instrument Stores located within yards of each other.
Hessey's and Rushworth's had a long history and tradition of providing instruments and equipment to most of the Bands that came out of Merseyside from the late fifties and Sixties, including The Beatles. In the late 70's and through the 80's, 90's and into the new Century, it was Curly Music that as the more progressive and modern Music Store, began to thrive and prosper.
With Liverpool enjoying a big Popular Music resurgence as a number of Bands came out of the Colleges and small Clubs to enjoy world wide commercial success and acclaim, Curly Music was frequented by & supplied most of them.
China Crisis, Frankie Go's to Hollywood, The Lotus Eaters, The La's, A Flock of Seagulls, Echo & the Bunnymen, Icicle Works, The Teardrop Explodes, The Farm, O.M.D's first number one was recorded in a Studio above the Shop! In more recent years, Curly Music can count Oasis amongst its customers as well as members of Cast, Space, Gomez & The Zutons.
