Derby Caravan Centre .... Who Are We?
The family, with over 50 years of experience between them in caravans and caravanning, are supported by a professional team who have the same standards of personal integrity.
The purchase of a caravan, be it ‘new’ or pre-owned’, should be an exciting and enjoyable experience. So often, like all major purchases, it can be fraught with difficulty and disappointment.
Our principal aim as a business is to bring the fun and excitement back to caravan purchase for every one of our customers. We try to do this by:
- Having a team of likeminded people, most of who caravan themselves.
- In common with most of our customers we don’t like ‘pushy salespeople’ and we each try to support potential buyers by trying to understand their needs, giving advice when asked but most importantly giving them space to look and reflect on their own.
- As probably the only retailer in the country who puts the type and kerbside weight of the tow car on our order form, we ensure that all customers understand what the maximum weight of caravan they can safely tow before they start the choosing process.
- We do offer customers the opportunity to borrow money from Blackhorse to enable them to purchase the caravan of their choice but we ensure that we offer them the best rate available and do not use it as a way for our sales team to earn large commissions.
- Once a customer has chosen a caravan we book them in for a 2hour dispatch slot where an experienced person takes them through every aspect of the caravan whilst everything is connected – gas, water, 12V and mains electricity.
- Payment by debit card is only taken after the customer is totally satisfied with their new purchase.
- Some customers take the opportunity to stay overnight at a local site paid for by us and then set off leisurely the next morning.
- They will leave knowing that they paid exactly what had been agreed beforehand and they hadn’t been ‘chipped’ back on their part exchange unless it was one of those rare occasions when both parties had agreed in advance that inspection of the PX would take place on exchange day. Normally we make every effort to either view part exchanges in advance or see a recent service and damp report on the caravan.
- New caravans all now carry extensive warranties but we are proud to also give a high quality warranty on all our ‘pre-owned’ caravans. This warranty does not require you to bring the caravan back to us to have the problem resolved when you are down in Cornwall or somewhere equally remote from Derby on holiday. Instead one call to our warranty insurance company finds you a local NCC approved workshop to resolve your problems.
- We like our customers to bring back their caravan to us for servicing and any warranty work that may be required and when they do, they find that their caravan has been serviced by a qualified experienced fitter and they take away a sheet showing everything that has been done with a 6 month warranty on it.
- Regrettably sometimes we make a mistake; one of the drawbacks of being human! When we do, we are not afraid to say ‘sorry’ and then we set about proving that we are really sorry and resolving the problem as quickly as possible to the customer’s satisfaction.
