Dining Room at The Old Times Guest House

Trusted for 10 years

Hello and welcome to The Old Times Guest House situated in lovely Ipswich!  A vision was born to create this guesthouse when the historic landmark property, formerly known as the “Lion’s Head”, captured our hearts.  We have lovingly restored this beautiful building to feature seven guest rooms, a tearoom, dining room and bar.LindaAfter many years in the Pub trade, namely the Pit Bar in Hornchurch at the Queens Theatre, Linda and myself (Vaughan) came to Ipswich in 2004. We had bought the lease of The Old Times Public House, 300 yards up the road from the Guesthouse, and have run it successfully ever since.  Being in the hospitality industry, we just love meeting new people who become part of our ever-expanding extended family. Now, joined by Linda's daughter Kelly, we are going from strength to strength as she brings with her 21 years experience in the hospitality industry.  Together as a team we want to provide hospitality to the lovely people of Ipswich and their own families, that feeling of home from home, a warm welcome and the type of hospitality that has disappeared over the years. VaughanOur guesthouse is ideally suited to both the business and casual traveller. We are also very family-friendly and we will do whatever we can to accommodate your children.  Family is so important to us that we named each of the seven guest rooms after our children! Each room is tastefully decorated with plush carpets, wrought iron beds, plump duvets and flat screen TVs. The en suite bathrooms feature fully tiled walk-in double sized power showers. We provide extra treats such as coffee and tea making facilities, baby changing stations (on request), complimentary shower gel and hand wash, free Wi-Fi and more. If you’re travelling with small children we’ll be happy to heat your baby’s food any time. Our Dining Room is a calm and elegant space reserved for our guests.  Enjoy wonderful traditional food such as liver and bacon, steamed suet puddings, homemade pies and so much more (see our menu). On Sundays we serve our ever-popular Sunday Roast lunch. Bring along the little ones, we have high chairs and baby changing facilities available. We’ll also be happy to heat up their food.KellyShould you need a light meal anytime during the day, try our Tearoom where you can order meals such as soup, Panini, jacket potatoes, homemade cakes and more .The bar, with its wide selection of beers, wines and spirits is an inviting place to hang out, watch a game or meet a few locals.Themed Weekend Stays revolving around various interests such as Theatre, Golf, Fishing, Shopping, Racing at Foxhall Stadium and more will be planned throughout the year. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter so we can keep you informed. To ensure you are never out of touch with the office or family, we provide free Wi-Fi in all our guest rooms and public spaces. We so look forward to welcoming you to The Old Times Guesthouse in the near future.
