The High School of Dundee is one of Scotland’s leading independent schools and is among the oldest in the United Kingdom. It is a fee-paying, co-educational day school of just over 1000 pupils, of whom around 330 are in the Junior School, making it the largest independent school in Tayside and Fife. In August 2014, following the opening of our brand-new Nursery alongside our top-of-the-range sports facilities on Arbroath Road, top quality education at the High School is now available right the way through from age 3-18. The Rector, Dr John Halliday, joined the School in August 2008. Pupils are encouraged to adopt the traditional values of hard work, self-discipline and respect for others. We believe that every child has individual talents and unique potential and our entire educational process is based on the understanding that children need to have their potential recognised and nurtured. The High School provides a learning environment where every child can grow in confidence within stable and encouraging surroundings. In its 770-year history, the High School has established a thriving community of past and present pupils and their families, with strong links to the wider community across Dundee and Tayside.
