In exteremely high temperatures, mineral carbon is crushed under the weight of the rock to form crystals. Subsequently volcanic activity pushes the crystals to the sufrace of the earth where the rock is mined to reveal the diamonds. Diamonds that adorn ENGAGEMENT RINGS are individually unique beacuse of the cut, clarity, colour and because of the inclusions. During the creation of the diamonds, minute features develop within the stone comprising of carbon and minerals and micro fractures. Diamonds are sized by CARATS and it is thought that the word derives from carob seeds to which diamonds were originallly compared by weight. Carob seeds are particularly uniform in size and weigh 0.20gr. Therefore a carat is equivalent to 0.20gr. DIAMOND RINGS come in all sizes and shapes. They are a very much a personal chice and typically adorned with a classic cut diamond, set in a four claw setting on a gold or platinum band. The price of a diamond ring is determined by the size of the stone whih is measured in carats. Diamond rings are often complemented with beautiful coloured gemstones such as rubies, emeralds, sapphires. DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS are typically adorned with a classic cut diamond set in gold or platinum. The setting in most diamond engagement rings is designed to allow the light to refract through the many facets of cut diamonds. Some diamond engagement rings have diamonds that are cut so that can be supported by four claws, a design choice by the diamond cutter that allows a higher level of light to refract through the stones. An important factor when buying diamond engagement rings is how well the diamonds are cut and polished. Engagement rings achieve their sparkle thanks to the skill of a the diamond cutter. The brilliance of the sparkle, the coloured fire within the stones and the bounce of the light from facet to facet, all combine to give engagement rings a unique quality.Gemstone ResourcesAMETHYST is a purple variety of quartz and was during Greek & Roman times used to protect against drunkeness.
