ck has
been a physical therapist for over 20 years and is the owner of and senior
osteopath at Osteopathy East.
A shiatsu practitioner in his teens and early
twenties, Rick went on to obtain a BSc in Osteopathy at the London School of
Osteopathy and an MSc in Pain Management at Cardiff University, specialising in
the management of musculoskeletal pain, specifically back pain.
Rick is an honorary tutor on the Pain Management MSc
course at Cardiff University , registered with the General Osteopathic
Council and the Royal Society of Medicine and regularly reviews papers for Leon
Chaitow and the Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies.
In 2011 Rick was selected to sit on an advisory panel
for the British Pain Society to formulate best practice guidelines in the NHS
for the assessment and management of acute pain. As well as general osteopathic
practice Rick has worked with specific patient groups including, adults with
learning disabilities, AIDS/HIV, and substance abuse rehabilitation.
In 2004 Rick opened the Broadway Market Osteopathic
Clinic and in 2012 moved the practice to Mare St, renaming it Osteopathy East.
Rick believes in the importance of practicing from an evidence informed base but
also realises the need for an experiential and intuitive approach when working
intimately with people.
Rick treats in an effective, supportive and direct
manner, giving clear understandable explanations and advice with the aim of
turning patients into non-patients.

Ben joined the team at Osteopathy East in 2012.
His interests include the cranial, classical and
visceral approaches to osteopathy and the osteopathic treatment of pregnant
women and children. He uses a gentle style of hands-on treatment that achieves
results by harnessing the body's innate capacity to find its own path to
ease. He treats people of all ages with a diverse range of health issues, from
premature babies to senior citizens.

After four years of full-time training, Ben qualified
as an osteopath in in 2004. He studied at the British School of Osteopathy where he has
taught Practical Osteopathic Skills since 2008. He holds an MSc in Pediatric
Osteopathy from the Osteopathic Centre for Children where he has
worked as a Clinic Tutor on the postgraduate training programme since 2011. He
also lectures for the Institute of Classical
Osteopathy and he is an Assistant Tutor at the Sutherland Cranial
College.
In addition to his clinical work and teaching, Ben is
a vocal advocate for osteopathy. He serves on the Council of the British
Osteopathic Association and as Secretary for the Osteopathic Alliance. Ben is
registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
