The Mahabharata (composed between 300 BC and 300 AD) has the honour of being the longest epic in world literature and is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India. Appearing in its present form about 400 ce, the Mahabharata revolves around two groups of cousins, the Kauravas and the Pandavas. Bhiman is the second of the Pandava brothers. He is one of the central characters and is symbolic of great strength. Bhima's strong point throughout the epic remains his towering strength. He was a skilful rider of elephants. The strength of his arms is equal to that of ten-thousand elephants. Bhiman was also renowned for his cooking skills and giant appetite - at times, half of the total food consumed by the Pandavas was eaten by him, which gave rise to his name of Vrikodara (One who has great hunger).

The skills and appetite of Bhiman was the account of fact that we took our inspiration from, to name our restaurant Shri Bheema’s. Shri Bheema’s is owned and managed by a close knit family team.
