St Katherine's is vibrant and evolving as a heritage centre, cultural resource and educational venue for the local community, the city of Lincoln, the East Midlands and beyond. The centre is housed in the fully restored Wesleyan church of St. Katherine, an outstanding, Grade 11 listed, nineteenth century building that stands on the site of the Gilbertine Priory of St. Katherine, founded in 1148.The rich history of the site reaches back over 900 years as the gateway to Lincoln. In medieval times, the priory was at the heart of the local community outside Lincoln, and welcomed visitors from far and near. This tradition begun centuries ago is continued today along with it being a place of hospitality and education. The venue offers visitors a time line of the history and heritage of the site, interspersed with interactive displays to cater for all ages.
