Home of Stockport War Memorial and Gallery space
The official opening of the Art Gallery and War Memorial 15 October 1925 in the presence of His Royal Highness The Prince Henry, son of George V.
The first foundation stone was laid in 1923 and contains the following inscription:
'In memory of the people of Stockport who fell in the Great War (1914-1918)'
Today the Art Gallery provides exhibition gallery space for local art groups and run by volunteers. Local groups and individuals are invited to apply to display their artwork at the Art Gallery exhibition space.
