Trusted for 10 years
In 1906 the Dyke Golf Course was formed high on the Sussex Downs, however the current layout was constructed more recently. A complete rebuild was necessary, due to the land being used as a Wartime tank training ground. The new course designed by Fred Hawtree is much longer than the pre-war version and is now a first class test of golf, measuring 6605 yards with a par of 72. As with most downland courses, the difficulty varies with the strength and direction of the wind. At an elevation of 200 metres the views are spectacular in all directions. The course is generally playable throughout the year, being fast draining and located in an area that enjoys a mild climate.
