Formed in 1986, by Christine Coverdale, Top Joint Music began as a Woodwind and Brass repair service for local Musicians. The business flourished and in 1990 Mark Godfrey joined the company, both him and Christine having qualified at Newark Technical College on the Woodwind Making and Repairing course. Mark having previously worked for Dodds of Doncaster and then at Boosey and Hawkes in Edgeware, London as a repairer.Christine now spends the majority of her time Teaching music but is still available to help in the shop, specializing in the double reed side of the business. Mark, “the Face of the shop,” has taught repairing in Norway, and also given lectures on Clarinet Making and repairing. He now runs the shop on a day to day basis and repairs the majority of the instruments that need repairing. His knowledge about the products we offer, whether it be new or secondhand instruments, or the reeds and accessories that go with them is vast, and he is always willing to help with your enquiries.Top Joint Music prides itself on giving honest and reliable advice, and offering a top class service to its customers at all times.
