In 2002, I went to Newton Rigg Campus (part of the University of Central Lancashire) to study a National Diploma in Equine Management. After Newton Rigg, I worked with horses in trekking centres and a riding for the disabled centre. From here I was offered a job in the Scottish Borders for a family, their home was in Thornhill but due work had to live in Edinburgh through the week. I looked after their house, 6 horses, 3 hens, 2 cats and their Springer spaniel (this is where I fell in love with the breed) understandably they eventually moved their animals over to Edinburgh and I was unable to go with them. I really enjoyed working with the other animals so decided to carry on rather than just stick to horses.
I was offered a job down in Keswick at Greta Bank Veterinary Centre; they had many horses, a Cattery and a Kennels! I took another part time job at Podgy Paws Pet shop in Keswick. It was while I was working in Keswick that I realised not everybody was as lucky as me and got to take their dog to work! I was in Surrey visiting my grandma and I met a lovely dog walker, i noticed there were quite a few set up down there too! The majority of dog owners i spoke to hated to have to leave their dogs all day on their own and worried about them! It was here I came up with the idea of ‘WALKeaze’.
