My name is Nicola Garrett and I have always loved being surrounded by animals. I adopted my first dog, Suzi - a collie cross, from a local rescue centre when i was 13 and have never been without a dog since. After graduating from the University of Aberdeen in 2001 with a BSc degree in Zoology I worked at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, USA and then a local veterinary practice. I started Alpha Dog Walks in July 2007 to provide a local dog walking and doggy daycare service. It is a dream come true to spend all day surrounded by dogs and enjoying the countryside. I love building a bond with the dogs i walk, and being met with a waggy tail when i arrive to collect them. My husband Neil left his career in the care industry, working with adults with special needs, to join Alpha Dog Walks in July 2008. He loves the outdoors and really enjoys going off exploring with the dogs. In March 2009 I passed a course in microchipping and completed my diploma in Canine Psychology & Behaviour in December 2009. I have also attended a course in First Aid for Dogs. We have 2 beautiful labradors of our own, Pebbles & Dixie, a lovely fell pony called Candy and 2 shetland ponies - Otis and Orchid. We also have a gerbil (Salt), bearded dragon (Bob) and cornsnake (Mickey).
