About Bahia Yoga

The name Bahia is linked to Indian heritage, it is the surname of the founder of the School Jasmin Bahia. In both Spanish and Portuguese languages the literal translation is that Bahia means bay. This interpretation reflects the different types of teachers landing in and linking in to the Bahia Yoga Bay. (Bahia is pronounced Bah-he-yah) Our intention

Bahia Yoga opened in 2003, offering traditional Hatha Yoga and classical Meditation classes. Our Director, Jasmin has been teaching in the wellbeing field for over 16 years, and Jake our Meditation Teacher began teaching Philosophy in 2002 and Meditation since 2007. Since 2011 we’ve been running Yoga Teacher Trainings in Nottingham. Our tutors on the teacher training programmes have taught throughout the UK and internationally. From October 2014 we will be running Yoga Teacher Trainings in Spain. Our Yoga classes and UK Teacher Trainings are held at our delightful studio space in Nottingham as well as Nottingham City Centre. The full-time studio runs daily Yoga classes in Nottingham and are accessible to everyone. The Yoga Teaching Training Tutors
Bahia Yoga is registered under Jasmin Bahia Ltd (2011) the Yoga Teacher Training is directed and run by Jasmin Bahia. All tutors including Jasmin, Jake, Sharon, Rachel, Claire and Caroline have previous experience of running and leading Hath Yoga Teacher Training Programmes. All our tutors have been teaching on the course since it’s inception. We also have regular guest lecturers such as Katrin for Sanskrit, Biant for Kirtan and Arthabhandhu for Meditation, and Taran for Asana Techniques, Alignments and Instruction. The Hatha Yoga instructors include Jake, Jasmin, Lyn, Alice, Jenny, Roxy, Sally, Nina and Jatta, all of whom have trained and qualified with Bahia Yoga. We’re very proud of our home grown talent of Yoga teachers in the East Midlands and are excited Our main Yoga instructors are inspired by contemporary and modern traditions from Sivananda, Iyengar, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow styles with an emphasis on authentic Yoga incorporating a modern influence. Drawing on various styles of Yoga we incorporate up to date training and simple philosophical knowledge within all sessions. Our Yoga School is accredited and registered with Yoga Alliance USA. We adhere to their Code of Conduct, which can be found here. We believe Yoga is accessible to all individuals and are committed to training and fully supporting Yoga students who embark on our Yoga Teacher Trainings.
