The clinic opened on a part-time basis in 1994. It has expanded since 2000, when Stuart Nottingham retired from working as a physiotherapist for professional sports teams. In 2003 the practice moved to its home in Barbourne, Worcester, where it continues to grow. The clinic treats self-referred patients, patients who are privately insured and patients who are referred from their employers to hasten their return to work.Associates that work for Black Pear Physio are all Chartered Physiotherapists who have a great deal of post-graduate experience in the field of clinical physiotherapy, and are committed to delivering a first class service to all the clinic’s patients.
Stuart Nottingham
STUART NOTTINGHAM graduated from the Oswestry and North Staffordshire School of Physiotherapy in 1985. He worked as a Junior Physiotherapist at the Dudley Road Hospital (City Hospital) in Birmingham, before progressing to a senior role working for GP practices in south Birmingham. In 1991 he became Chief Physiotherapist at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, basing his work around this role. During his time at WCCC the team was the most successful in the country, winning two championships and reached eight Lord’s finals. Brian Lara scored his record-breaking 501 run score during this time. Stuart was also the England team’s physiotherapist for a test match against Australia. Stuart took on an additional position from 1992 to 1997, when he became Chief Physiotherapist to Moseley Football Club (Rugby Union). The involvement with Moseley led to work as Physiotherapist for the Midlands Senior Divisional team and the England “A” side. In 2000 Stuart was invited to work with the Benetton Formula One Racing Team.
Since retiring from professional sport Stuart has developed the Private Practice alongside the ever expanding Occupational Health business. He now specialises in chronic pain medicine and work absence issues.Charlotte Harris
CHARLOTTE HARRIS graduated from Keele University with a BSc (Hons) degree in June 2009,and started working with both inpatients and outpatients in the hospital setting. Charlotte continues to develop her skills by attending regular training sessions in addition to external courses. She attended a recent massage and soft tissue therapy course and holds a sports first aid certificate. In addition to this, Charlotte is studying part-time for an MSc and is qualified in the use of acupunctur.Kelly Stinton
KELLY STINTON graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a BSc (Hons) degree in 2012. She is currently working in an outpatient and community role in Worcestershire and works part time with us running clinics during the week.Kelly has a special interest in dance having spent her younger years performing in London including dancing with the National Youth Ballet. She continues to develop her clinical skills through attending various courses. She uses her experience to help better understand her client’s needs and therefore guiding them back to recovery. Kelly’s focus is very much on functional rehabilitation, matching the client’s rehabilitation to the specific demands of the activities they participate in. She uses a combination of manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and taping alongside exercise to accomplish this.
