What We Do?
Ockwells specialise in the distribution of building materials, fire stopping components and coatings, temporary site and office/warehouse protection and covering materials including LPS 1207 and LPS 1215 flame Retardant protection products.
Ockwells also draw on a vast network of manufacturers, distributors and buying societies to locate and supply those products that are not held in stock. We currently offer this service to sites situated in mainland UK, Isle of Wight, Jersey, Guernsey and Northern Ireland.Ockwells offer a rapid NATIONWIDE delivery service Monday - Friday using our own delivery fleet and carriers. Out of hours, same day and weekend deliveries can also be arranged but this will incur additional charges.We also offer a delivery service to UK ports and airports for onward export, to be arranged by you. Export services are also available through independent operators if required.

Ockwells distribute site protection and specialist building materials.
Preferred trading arrangements have been established with major manufacturers. Regular dialogue takes place between both parties on issues such as new product introductions, design and development, compliance with Health and safety requirement, handling and storage, staff training on products and stock management. Ockwells builds relationships with key suppliers on the following:
- Commitment to preferred supplier agreements.
- Carrying stock in both range and depth in all branches to fulfil customer needs.
- Purchasing at mutually beneficial economic order quantities.
- Continuous investment in technology to reduce transactional costs.
- Using our customer relationships, marketing and selling skills to "pull" products through the supply chain.
- Prompt payment to terms.
- Commitment to resolving disputes/ problems early.
- Close personal relationships.
- Product Quality
Ockwells past, present and future policy is to deal with reputable manufactures only. As previously stated Ockwells will continue to rationalise in favour of market leaders and/ or quality new entrants who have the capacity to produce, deliver and underwrite product quality.For direct to site deliveries, any items that are damaged or delivered in error must be immediately notified to the relevant sales office. This will enable Ockwells to record your claim and notify the supplier to take corrective action. Goods into our depots are signed off. In the event of a problem the materials are made available to the suppliers for inspection. In general terms there are very few problems in this area.
Storage and Handling
Products that require weather protection are stored in our extensive warehouses. The materials are secured and covered as required to protect their condition due to travel and weather damage.All vehicles are restricted to a particular weight of carriage. The load size will dictate which size vehicle or vehicle the goods will be delivered on.If you wish on some occasions to unload the vehicle using your lifting plant this permitted provided you recognise our driver is in charge of the vehicle at all times.

As a minimum standard, the Group will meet the requirements of all legal, industry and other adopted standards.The company strives to maintain best practice, seeking continual improvement and innovation within all Group businesses and activities through the implementation of its Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) management systems, with the UK based businesses certified to BS EN ISO 14001 Environment and BSI OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety.This policy is signed by the Group Chief Executive to demonstrate the Boards commitment and it has been adopted by the Board of Directors of each UK based subsidiary and a copy is posted at each location. General Policy
All SIG plc subsidiaries will, so far as is reasonably practicable provide;
- Adequate resources to ensure the proper provision for the implementation of the HS&E management systems and compliance with current legislation and adopted guidance.
- Plant, work equipment and systems of work, which are safe, and without risk to health.
- Arrangements for the safe use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances for use at work and minimise the environmental impact of such processes.
- Employees with such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to enable the employee to ensure his or her health and safety at work and the safety of others that may be affected by their acts or omissions.
- A working environment that is safe and without risks to health, with adequate means of access and egress, and adequate welfare arrangements.
- Arrangements for effective employee consultation regarding health, safety and environmental matters.
- Monitoring procedures to maintain agreed standards and ensure that steps are taken to reduce the likelihood of days lost from work related injury and ill health.
- Adequate competent Health, Safety and Environmental personnel to assist in applying the provisions of health, safety and environmental law.
- Information, advice, facilities and products to promote the economic minimisation of energy use, waste produced, and fuel usage.
